Measures to be taken in the event of incorrect application
A few years of contact with the product have allowed us to gather some examples of incorrect application of the grapefruit seed extract on the basis of the experiments performed by its users. All problems resulted from incorrect application of UNDILUTED extract. Please read the list below and try not to expand it:
- Do not drink undiluted extract
- Do not rub undiluted extract into mucous membranes or wounds
- Do not rub undiluted extract into skin
- Do not brush your teeth with undiluted extract
Do not drink undiluted extract. Those who do not read information leaflets often make such mistakes. Undiluted extract may result in severe irritation of the oral cavity and oesophagus.
Measures: Immediately drink 0.5-1 l of liquid. It can be water or, preferably, citrus juice. If possible, eat a few spoonfuls of bran or some wholemeal food (groats, wholemeal bread, etc.). Eating kissel or pudding (preferably sugar-free) may also prove to be helpful.
Correct application: See the Dosage section.
Do not rub undiluted extract into mucous membranes or wounds as it may cause tissue irritation, burning and red marks.
Measures: Immediately wash the affected area with soapy water. Apply neutral and moisturising cream (e.g. with aloe).
Do not rub undiluted extract into skin. Ladies tend to use it as a facial mask (especially dangerous when left on over night). As a result, skin is dry, tight and bright red.
Measures: The same as in the case of rubbing into mucous membranes but using more cream.
Brushing your teeth and gums with undiluted extract also happens most often before going to bed. In the morning, what wakes us up is not freshness but a burning sensation in the mouth, usually accompanied by inflammation of the oral cavity and the tongue (mainly under the tongue) and considerably reduced taste perception ability of taste buds (which will pass over time).
Measures: Eating may be painful for some time, so mashed food of mild taste should be ingested for a few days. Gargle with soothing and moisturising liquids (e.g. aloe) or with diluted chamomile infusion.
